SLU-PP-332: exercise mimetic

SLU-PP-332: Metabolic Breakthrough or Hype?

Imagine getting many of the benefits of a hard cardio session — better fat burning, more energy, and improved metabolism — without actually having to spend hours at the gym. That’s the exciting promise behind SLU-PP-332, a compound often called “exercise in a pill.”

Also known as SLU PP 322 or simply SLOOP, this research compound is gaining attention in the biohacking and performance world for its potential to support fat loss, boost endurance, and enhance overall metabolic health. Early studies show promising results, and it’s already being discussed by popular experts and podcasts.

What Is SLU-PP-332?

SLU-PP-332 is a synthetic compound that activates special receptors in the body known as estrogen-related receptors (ERRs). These receptors help control how our muscles use energy, burn fat, and produce power at the cellular level.

Researchers designed it to “switch on” many of the same pathways that kick in during long endurance exercise — but without requiring you to run, cycle, or train intensely. In simple terms, it tells your body to act like it’s been doing regular cardio, even when you’re resting.

How Does SLU-PP-332 Work?

When taken, SLU-PP-332 helps increase mitochondrial function (the powerhouses of your cells), encourages the body to burn more fat for fuel, and raises overall energy use. This can lead to better fat loss, improved endurance, and healthier metabolism over time.

Key Benefits Shown in Early Research

  • Fat Loss: In studies with obese mice, SLU-PP-332 helped reduce body weight by about 12% and prevented a lot of extra fat buildup — all while the mice ate the same amount of food.
  • Better Endurance: Mice that were not normally active were suddenly able to run much longer and farther — up to 70% longer in some tests.
  • Improved Metabolic Health: It supported better blood sugar control and reduced fat buildup in the liver.
  • More Efficient Energy Use: The compound increased fat burning and daily energy expenditure without causing muscle loss.

What the Science Says

A major study published in 2024 in the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics found that SLU-PP-332 mimics many of the genetic changes that happen during aerobic exercise. In both overweight and genetically obese mice, it helped increase fat burning, raise energy use, and improve insulin sensitivity.

Earlier research from 2023 also showed big improvements in running endurance in normal mice, with no change in how much they chose to move on their own.

What Experts Are Saying

Thomas Burris, PhD, the lead researcher behind the compound, explained it simply: “This compound is basically telling skeletal muscle to make the same changes you see during endurance training.”

Popular biohacker and podcast host Jay Campbell has been very positive, calling SLU-PP-332 “the GOAT of all fat-loss agents.” He has shared his own experiences and protocols in articles and on his Fully Optimized Health podcast.

You can also hear in-depth conversations about SLU-PP-332 on the Ageless Future Podcast with Regan Archibald, the Unbreakable Podcast, and The Dr. Jones Podcast, where hosts compare it to other compounds that support mitochondrial health and energy.

Is SLU-PP-332 Right for You?

While human studies are still needed, the early research is encouraging for anyone looking to support fat loss, energy levels, or metabolic health. As with any research compound, it’s important to speak with your healthcare provider and only purchase from trusted, third-party tested sources.
